NO, I WILL NOT GET OFF SOCIAL MEDIA!!

blog Jun 07, 2017

It was my 37th birthday yesterday, and it caused me to do some reflecting on myself, my relationships, and who I am growing to become. If you know me then you know I spend a lot of time on my phone and on social media. It seems as though social media has a negative association with it. “Oh I don’t have any social media, too much drama”, “I don’t need social media because I keep up with everyone I need to” or my favorite “they have my phone number and if the relationship is that important then we will keep in contact.” To all those I say- you are a liar! Liar you hear me!!! Maybe it’s that I have moved around for the last 20 years of my life all through the US and now know that A. I can’t keep up with everyone in my life through calling or texting, and B. I don’t WANT to keep up with everyone through calling or texting. People. Let’s be honest. There are people that are great Facebook friends that you do not...

QUIT BEING A DAMN VIDEOR… IT’S TIME TO BE A DOER

blog May 26, 2017

Stop being the damn vidoer. I am tired of ya’ll. I am tired of people recording these horrible racist tirades, throwing them on the internet and expecting a pat on the back and a “you’re the man.” You’re not the “man”. You are complicit in the act. You are passively allowing the racist, vulgar, dehumanizing tirade to continue. You are ALLOWING a racist system to continue- yes you Mr. I Don’t See Color, Mr. We Are All the Same. You are allowing racism to continue. You are in no way shape or form showing you understand your privilege and using it to combat the issues at hand. I am tired of seeing crowds in videos, or people watching and doing absolutely nothing. I hope that no one within the videos went up to the person of color after the yelling and harassing
I am tired of seeing crowds in videos, or people watching and doing absolutely nothing. I am tired of seeing the same type of video weekly. Of trying to talk to my friend about one...

YOU WORRY ABOUT TERRORISTS… I’LL WORRY ABOUT MEN

Uncategorized May 03, 2017

BI Graphics_Odds of Dying

You worry about terrorists… I’ll worry about men. You talk about the deaths caused by terrorists, yet you fail to mention the consistent killing of women by men, especially men they know. You mention terrorism, yet fail to mention the women terrorized because of toxic masculinity and frail egos. Politicians drone on and on about Radical Islamic terrorism in their speeches and want you to believe deaths are occurring from terrorism, and want you to be afraid. They talk about it so much it would lead you to believe there is a steady stream of murders by terrorists or refugees. However, the statistics would tell you otherwise. This 2013 data by BusinessInsider.com  tells us the lifetime odds you will be killed in an accident is 1 in 31. The lifetime odds you will be killed by a foreign-born terrorist (all forms) is 1 in 45, 808, by a refugee terrorists is 1 in 46,192, 893, OR by illegal immigrant terrorists is 1 in 138, 324, 873. But, the...

HEINEKEN VS. PEPSI: THE BATTLE OF THE SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS

blog Apr 29, 2017

In early April,  Pepsi came out with a social justice minded commercial using Kendall Jenner and a can of Pepsi as the new method against law enforcement in riot gear. Let me put it into more of a perspective. Pepsi used a rich white girl in expensive clothing, few can afford, holding a can of soda as the method people of color should be using against the law enforcement while protesting oppression.  The same law enforcement that comes in full riot gear any time there is an event with a large population of colored folk.

The tone deafness of the article isn’t even shown in the can of Pepsi Jenner hands the police officer (not in riot gear). The tone deafness is in the niceness of the signs- where are the names of people murdered or black lives matter? It is in the happy walk of the protestors. The smiles of the protestors who really have nothing to lose or gain, just happy to be hanging out with friends.  The video doesn’t show what exactly it means...

WHITE PEOPLE ARE ANGELIZED. PEOPLE OF COLOR ARE DEMONIZED.

Image result for united passenger dragged off

Person of color is a victim of violence or is murdered, and what is the first thing the media and people do? The don’t look for the information on the accuser, they look for the information on the victim. There has to be a reason this happened to the person of color. This could not have been a case of the police killing a person for no reason. This couldn’t have been an innocent person. There has to be a reason.
On April 9th David Dao was dragged off of a United Airlines flight when he was chosen to be a passenger involuntarily bumped because United had oversold the flight. He paid for his ticket, he had his seat. Regardless, he was dragged off the United Flight by the police like a criminal. Days after the situation it seems as if being dragged off a plane doesn’t matter. It seems being attacked and bleeding didn’t matter. What seems to matter is uncovering his past as shown by this NY Daily News article. It seems that with people of color...

WHO SHOT THE GAME WINNING SHOT VS. UCONN, DAK PRESCOTT OR MORGAN WILLIAMS??

blog Apr 02, 2017

Yesterday, March 31st, Morgan Williams truly made history within not only collegiate women’s basketball, collegiate women’s sports, or collegiate basketball in general. She made history within sports period. With seconds left on the clock, Morgan Williams of Mississippi State got the ball from a teammate, drove in, and shot a jumper to put Mississippi State up 66-64 over the Goliath and current National Champion UConn. She made the winning shot to beat a team who had an 111 game, three-year win streak. She did the unthinkable. Beat UConn. However, when Morgan was interviewed by Holly Rowe of ESPN she was interviewed WITH Dak Prescott current Dallas Cowboys quarterback. Wait, what? A woman made a historical shot to beat a team on an 111 game streak yet she wasn’t the only one being interviewed Dak Prescott was with her. Well actually, to be correct, she was with Dak Prescott.

Both Morgan Williams and Dak Prescott were being interviewed, but...

OUR VOICES ARE BEING HEARD, NOW MAKE THEM LOUDER

NY Times

We seem to be living in a time where it has become absolutely apparent that although members of Congress are voted into office by the constituents of their district or state, they seem to not vote with those constituents in mind. The voice of those constituents has become loud and vocal, and Congressmen do not know how to handle it. They are not used to this, especially Republican Congressmen. They are used to polite town halls, low numbers  of constituents, and no detailed hot button questions. In 2009, after the election of Barack Obama, the tea party had their protesting time of taking over town halls. Behind the Rage at Healthcare Town Hall Meetings gives you insight into the protesting the Tea Party did  against healthcare. The Democratic Congressmen had to answer questions. Had to deal with angry constituents. This is not the first time constituents wants their voices heard.

The pendulum has swung towards the left, and we are taking over the...

#RESISTANCE RESOURCES

blog Feb 23, 2017

Ok people. The ugliness of the government is continuing and at a rapid pace. The President, Cabinet, and Congress are trying to set back the clock with this “state’s rights” crap.  State’s right has shown that it gives states the ability to discriminate against people on basic human rights all should have. To ask for the government to protect all their citizens is not asking for special treatment. We must protest the idea of “state’s rights” when it comes to rights for everyone.
I am not sure about you, but it seems as though I am consistently hearing about issues that need to be protested. Issues that will discriminate against groups of marginalized people; whether it be deportation, ICE raids, Muslim Ban, transgender rights, marriage equality, or fighting the Keystone pipeline. I want to know about protests in my area, the issues I need to call about, the correct government officials to call about issues, and so on.

Many people...

WHERE DO I, YOU– BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY– WE GO FROM HERE?

blog Feb 18, 2017

Where do I, you — but more importantly — WE go from here? Because at the end of the day it is about we as a community, as a nation. I am lucky enough to have a very diverse group of friends who are diverse in color as they are in religion, thought, and political party. But right now, myself included, feel this election has divided everyone into two categories. Either you are with me or you aren’t. Either you are with my liberal views or you are not. Either you are with my conservative views or you are not. Either you supported Clinton with me and believe Trump is a piece of crap; or you support Trump and think he will MAGA and Clinton was a horrible person.
Regardless of what you think or who you voted for, we cannot continue along this path as a nation. We have become a nation that is more worried about our political parties than we are about our neighbor. I am guilty of this myself. I would always speak to the neighbor to the right of me when I would see them....

THIS IS NOT A SPRINT, IT IS A MARATHON. POLITICS DON’T CHANGE OVERNIGHT.

blog Feb 09, 2017

We all need to take a breath. Betsy DeVos was confirmed. Jeff Sessions was confirmed. Others nominees who we know aren’t fit will probably be confirmed. We knew this would happen. We knew. We, unfortunately, know that the other cabinet picks, however unqualified, inexperienced, crooked, or fraudulent will also be confirmed. The swamp isn’t being drained, the opposite is actually happening. The swamp is filled with more and more alligators and crocodiles dressed in expensive suits and asking for receipts for the positions they paid for.  Regardless of that, we cannot allow the cabinet confirmations to stop us from continuing our fight. We cannot stop what we are doing because of this. We need to increase our pressure even more now. We have had successes within our protests.

  • The Women’s March drew over 4.8 million protestors within 673 marches
  • House Bill 621 by Congressman Jason Chaffetz was withdrawn when he felt the strong opposition from his constituents
  • ...
